Andris Pelšs highlighted the close cooperation between Latvia and Estonia and expressed appreciation for the chance to learn from Estonia's experience in order to plan and prepare Latvia’s campaign seeking membership of the United Nations Security Council. Rainer Saks spoke positively of the well-organised official visit to Latvia by the Estonian Foreign Minister, Urmas Reinsalu, that took place on 30 September.
In a discussion on developments in Belarus, the parties agreed that restrictive measures (sanctions) related to the narrowing of the EU-Belarusian dialogue must not have a negative impact on Belarusian society.
