On 15 March 2023, the State Secretary of the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Andris Pelšs, met with the new Ambassador of Slovakia to Latvia, Braņislav Pavlovič. Andris Pelšs commended the excellent relations between the two countries and thanked Slovakia for its contribution to the strengthening of Latvia’s security. Latvia and Slovakia enjoy close partnership, and the officials confirmed their readiness to continue the active bilateral political and security dialogue, as well as to promote economic cooperation.
The meeting also addressed the security situation in the region, Russia’s hostilities in Ukraine, and the fight against disinformation. The diplomats agreed that all forms of support for Ukraine should continue to help it win the war.
The Ambassador's accreditation ceremony at Riga Palace is planned for 21 March 2023.
