Andžejs Viļumsons un Elisenda Vives Balmaña

On 5 November 2024, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Andžejs Viļumsons welcomed the new non-resident Ambassador of the Principality of Andorra to Latvia, Elisenda Vives Balmaña, on an accreditation visit.

Andžejs Viļumsons welcomed the Convention on the Prevention of Double Taxation signed by the Foreign Ministers of Latvia and Andorra at their meeting during the UN General Assembly this past 21 September. The officials expressed the hope that the signing of the convention will promote economic relations between the two countries.

The State Secretary expressed his support for the conclusion of the EU Association Agreement with Andorra and San Marino, which will facilitate Andorra’s access to the EU internal market and promote dialogue in other areas of common interest. While discussing current international affairs, the officials agreed that Latvia and Andorra are like-minded countries linked by shared values ​​and understanding of strengthening the rules-based international order. Andžejs Viļumsons informed the Ambassador about the security situation in the region.

The meeting with the State Secretary will be followed by an accreditation ceremony with the President of Latvia, Edgars Rinkēvičs.

Elisenda Vives Balmaña has served as Ambassador at the Permanent Mission of Andorra to the UN and Ambassador to the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
