On 16 November 2023, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Andris Pelšs, received the Ambassador of Kazakhstan, Dauren Karipov, for an accreditation visit.
During the meeting, the officials noted the positive dynamics of bilateral relations. Speaking about the strengthening of political dialogue, Andris Pelšs stressed the importance of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Latvia and Kazakhstan. The next round of consultations is scheduled for 23 November in Riga.
During the meeting, the State Secretary and the Ambassador discussed strengthening cooperation in education, pharmaceuticals and IT. The international situation, including the Russian aggression in Ukraine, was also discussed.
The Ambassador will be accredited by the President of Latvia, Edgars Rinkēvičs, on 17 November. The Ambassador will also take part in the official programme of the 18 November Proclamation of Latvia celebrations.
