On 15 December 2023, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Andris Pelšs, received an introductory visit from the newly appointed Ambassador of the Hellenic Republic to Latvia, Evangelos Tournakis.
The State Secretary praised the bilateral relations between Latvia and Greece. During the conversation, the officials confirmed their readiness to continue the active political dialogue between Latvia and Greece and enhance cooperation in the economy.
The State Secretary and the Ambassador exchanged views on current matters and challenges in relation to international security and the enlargement of the European Union. The officials were of unanimous that Latvia and Greece were allies and like-minded countries that share common values and tasks in the European Union and NATO.
The Ambassador will assume his post after submitting his credentials to the President of Latvia.
