On 19 May 2023, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Andris Pelšs, met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Phan Dang Duong, on a farewell visit.
Andris Pelšs thanked the Ambassador for his contribution to the strengthening of bilateral relations between Latvia and Vietnam, while expressing regret that the intensity of cooperation had been severely affected by restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic. During the meeting, the State Secretary emphasised the need to support Ukraine in international organisations, as well as informing the Ambassador about the Presidency of Latvia of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe. The State Secretary invited a delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam to visit Latvia for political consultations.
