Valsts sekretārs uzņem iepazīšanās vizītē jauno Čehijas vēstnieku Latvijā

On 21 August 2023, the State Secretary of the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Andris Pelšs, met with the new Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Latvia, Martin Vitek. The State Secretary and the Ambassador discussed the security environment in the region, including hybrid threats and Russia’s hostilities in Ukraine.

Andris Pelšs commended the excellent bilateral relations between Latvia and the Czech Republic and thanked the Czech Republic for its contribution to the strengthening of Latvia’s security through participating in the NATO enhanced Forward Presence battle group. In an exchange of views on the Russian aggression in Ukraine, both officials agreed that all forms of support should continue to be provided to Ukraine because it must win the war. Support for Ukraine’s reconstruction was also discussed.

The officials noted the close cooperation between Latvia and the Czech Republic and confirmed their readiness to take forward the active bilateral political and security dialogue, as well as to expand economic cooperation.
