On 4 April 2022, the Under-Secretary of State, Administrative Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Atis Lots, met with the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Sultana Laila Hossain, who had arrived in Latvia on an accreditation visit.
The Under-Secretary and the Ambassador discussed the opportunities for cooperation between Latvia and Bangladesh in the areas such as education, pharmaceuticals, information technologies and other economic sectors with high value added. They also exchanged views on the promotion of cultural and interparliamentary contacts.
The Ambassador of Bangladesh will submit her credentials to the President of Latvia, Egils Levits, on 6 April 2022.
Ms Sultana Laila Hossain holds a Master’s degree from the University of Dhaka in Bangladesh. She is an experienced diplomat, has been posted as Ambassador to Morocco and Consul-General in Los Angeles, as well as serving in various capacities in the Bangladeshi Embassies in Myanmar and India. She was accredited as Ambassador of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh to Poland in June 2021.
