On 29 March 2023 in Washington, DC, The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Latvia, Edgars Rinkēvičs, met with the Chair of the Europe Subcommittee of the Committee on Foreign Affairs at the United States House of Representatives, Thomas Kean. The officials exchanged views on the bilateral relations between Latvia and the United States, current and further support by the two countries to Ukraine in the war against Russia, and topics high on the international relations agenda.
Edgars Rinkēvičs and Thomas Kean discussed the upcoming NATO Summit in Vilnius. The Foreign Minister underlined that the strengthening of current US military presence in Latvia is of inestimable importance.
During the meeting, Edgars Rinkēvičs informed Representative Thomas Kean about Latvia’s current assistance to Ukraine; they also exchanged views on the security situation in the region and developments in Moldova and Belarus.
The Foreign Minister invited Thomas Kean to visit Latvia.
