Provision of regional training for consular officials of the Republic of Latvia on the EU uniform visa issuance policy in accordance with the requirements of the European Visa Code (Stage 1)

Status: Implementation

• Project objective

  • The objective of training is to improve the professional qualifications of officials in order to ensure a uniform practice of issuing Schengen visas in all diplomatic and consular missions of Latvia strictly applying the requirements of the Schengen acquis, to prevent the risk of illegal immigration and the risk to public order, internal security or public health in the Schengen Area member states.

  • 01.04.2024.–31.12.2026.

• The project is implemented by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

• Budget

  • Total budget – 314 000 EUR, of which:
    • European Union co-financing – 235 500 EUR;
    • State Budget co-financing – 78 500 EUR.

• Events planned

  • training for consular officials in Warsaw, Poland, 2024;
  • training for locally employed staff, consular clerks at missions where visas are issued – in Riga, Latvia, 2025;
  • training for consular officials in Dublin, Ireland, 2025;
  • training for consular officials in Ankara, Turkey, 2026.
