In a conversation, Ambassador Atis Lots extended a verbal invitation from the President of Latvia, Edgars Rinkēvičs, to His Majesty King Charles III to visit Latvia. The Ambassador thanked the United Kingdom for its support for the security of the Baltic region – including the Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF) and the Drone Coalition, support to Ukraine, as well as commitment to NATO. Atis Lots recalled that a drone summit will be held in Latvia this coming 28 May 28. The Ambassador thanked the United Kingdom for its global leadership in promoting relations between Europe and the USA.

The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is an important cooperation partner to Latvia. The countries are linked by historically friendly relations, common interests and cooperation at both bilateral, regional and multilateral levels. The United Kingdom was the first country in the world to recognize the Latvian Provisional National Council as a de facto independent institution on 11 November 1918, and the delegate Zigfrīds Anna Meierovics as its unofficial diplomatic in the UK. The United Kingdom was among first to recognize the state of Latvia de iure on 26 January 1921.

Ambassador Atis Lots assumed his duties in the United Kingdom on 18 September 2024, succeeding Ambassador Ivita Burmistre.
